The Adamssons
Those two older boys in the photo, below, lost their mom to cancer when they were 2 and 5 years of age.
We weren't ready for that. Not in any way. In six short years of marriage their mom, Paula, and I were too busy starting a family and a business to think of anything else, and that included life insurance.
And, of course, with a cancer diagnosis for the last 1 1/2 years of our marriage, life insurance wasn't something we could afford or even get. Not in 1998. Thankfully, that has changed.
Family and friends scooped up the boys and me, and carried us until Father answered prayers and sent Kathy.

We, too, have been busy adding boys to the family. Our two oldest boys are now 28 and 26. Our two youngest are now 18 and 16. If you ask us,
"So, whadya do for a living?"
Kathy and I will quickly respond,
"We raise boys!"
But not without life insurance. Not this time.
May I suggest planning for the storms of life before they arrive?

Every sabbatical year for us has been unique. Every six-year business cycle has been imperfect. Despite that, we don't beat ourselves up when we fail. We choose to approach this all as a gift, and with a sense of humor, instead. Recreationally, really. Why? Well . . . isn't that our purpose? To re-create?
"I'm gonna figure this sabbatical-thing out, even if it kills me." If that's you, rather than dying trying, might we suggest living, instead? From our experience, we have come to realize that a formulaic approach simply won't lead to the sustainable, generational lifestyle that we were designed for, from the beginning.
sabbatical living is more like flying a kite. remain teachable--willing and able to adapt to change.
We're simply pointing out that if you start early enough, you could get seven tries to retire early more often. Maybe even eight! Seven or eight tries-- a retirement, every seventh year.
