Our response:

We see it, too, David.   Some calls require recording for compliance and, thus, a unique number.  And then our CRM (client relationship management) system won't let us text you, unless we text from a toll-free number.

You are left to wonder, "Do I call the toll-free number, then?  Return text, toll-free?"

One thing we are going to try in the near future is a receptionist.   One number for you to call, and a real person who can direct it to us, on your behalf.  Let us know how that feels to you, when we try that out.
